What is Electrostatic Discharge. (ESD)

Electrostatic discharge or static electricity happens when two surfaces come into contact such as foot traffic on a flooring system.
Electrostatic sparks may have enough energy to produce minor electric shocks, cause electronic damage, spoil mechanical components, disrupt production processes, and generate fires and explosion.

  1. When the charge is released onto an electronic device, the heat from the charge can melt the internal components of a device, causing it to fail.
  2. When a static charge exceeds a certain level, spontaneous discharges and sparks can occur.

That is why the primary means, or first line of defence in preventing damaging ESD events is to install an ESD flooring system.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT ESD RESIN FLOORING SYSTEM.

One product does not fit all, this is commonly confused within the industry. There are two different epoxy resin flooring (ESD) systems available to you. Conductive and dissipative are the two resistance categories used to describe the speed at which currents flow through a flooring material. The right choice of system is determined by your workspace activity. When it comes to selecting an industrial flooring solution for your Electrostatic Protected Area (EPA), we will help you to decide whether you require a Dissipative or Conductive resin floor system.

WHY CHOOSE DIAMOND RESIN?

What our customers and client have to say about us.

VIEW ALL TESTIMONIALS

Having searched the web for local floor refurbishment companies we came across a few which included Diamond Resin, having asked for quotations from a few and carried out site visits we found the finish from Diamond Resin to be the best option. • General Primer.
  • Conductive Copper tape.
  • Conductive primer.
  • Conductive self-levelling epoxy resin at 1.0- 2.0 mm.

TESTING

Upon completion of an ESD flooring installation we will carry out a Surface Test designed to measure resistance point-to-point (RTT) and surface to ground (RTG) of the completed work surface. We will supply you with a full written report.

Surface resistance tests measure the capacity of a material to resist the flow of electricity. To test surface resistance, an ohmmeter applies a current through a material, measures the voltage, and displays the resistance in ohms.
